Royd’s — on Krome at SW 208 Street — presents a delightful ambience reminiscent of an old Southwestern town, featuring a mix of Latin and Southern comfort food, with fresh fruit milkshakes and home-made desserts.
On the weekends, enjoy the mechanical bull rides, pony rides and a farm animal exhibit for the kids, with live music on the last Sunday of the month. It’s a beautiful family-friendly place where you’ll want to return again and again.
Royd Lemus and his wife Maribel like to highlight the best of the Redland region in their charming tropical paradise. The principals were born and raised in Miami with love for farming, good food, and quality family time. These themes are obvious in the delightful and whimsical setting of Royd’s.
“The idea is to offer a true taste of the Redland — from the architecture to the agriculture,” said Royd Lemus. And, it certainly does just that, with greenhouses full of tropical plants growing right on the property.
The appetizers range from tamales and croquettes to empanadas and Argentinian sausages, with conch fritters, fish dip and shrimp cocktail as well. Sandwiches include a fine Cuban or Midnight, croquette, chicken and beefsteak. The homemade chili and the burgers are also a delight. Specialties include Vaca Frita, roasted chicken, fish and chicken strips, fried pork chunks and Mahi. Shrimp lovers will find them smothered in creole or garlic sauce, or served with grits, Southern style.
The homemade Limeaid is always a hit.
Leave room for dessert so you can experience the rich flan covered in caramel sauce, delicious peach cobbler or ice cream.
Royd’s is located at 20800 SW 177 Avenue (Krome). They’re open Wednesday and Thursday from 8am to 5pm; Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 7pm. They’re closed Monday and Tuesday.
