Learn about the benefits and advantages of having your own rain barrel collection system. It's still rainy season -- the best time to collect and save rain water. Register for this free workshop conducted virtually by the Miami Dade County Extension team. For those who purchase a rain barrel, the pick-up details are as follows: Saturday, August 14, from 10am to noon at 18710 SW 288th Street, Miami, Florida 33030. You must wear a face mask and stay in your vehicle. Staff will place the rain barrel in your car. Please have your vehicle prepared in advance. It's cool, and fun and state-of-the-art -- the Silent Disco Dance Party with the backdrop of South Florida’s Countryside at Miami Brewing Company's big Tap Room starting at 7pm. Meet up with friends, don a pair of special glowing headphones so you can switch between the DJs. The color of your headphones change so you know if you’re jamming to the same song as your friends. Departing from the Deering Estate on the Pelican Skipper, a comfortable riding 45 foot Corinthian catamaran, this three hour tour will allow you to experience Biscayne National Park in a new light. Guided by a Biscayne National Park Ranger, guests will journey through Biscayne Bay to see Boca Chita Island and learn about the history that surrounds them. The vessel complies with Coast Guard Regulations and is ADA accessible. The price is $56.

The Sunset Folk Music Series closes out the summer on Saturday, Aug. 28 with folk musician, Grant Livingston and Park Ranger storyteller Gary Bremen. Celebrate a century of history guided by Gary's own personal tales of national parks as Grant plays folk songs of the times as well as his own original melodies -- accompanied by the beautiful setting that is Castellow Hammock Park. Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and a picnic basket with your favorite treats. The cost is $5 per person; ages 10 and under are free. More details.
