Looking For Special Locations For Filmmakers

The Miami-Dade Office of Film & Entertainment is looking for unique locations to present to filmmakers and production companies shooting in South Florida. Do you know of "camera-ready" locations in the Redland countryside to recommend?

The FilMiami agency wants to connect entertainment productions with businesses and property owners to create economic growth -- within their mission to attract film, video, digital and print production to the County because of its high wage jobs and economic stimulus.

South Dade has a wide variety of local businesses, diverse locations like historic and anywhere USA looking homes, agriculture, lush gardens, waterfalls, the speedway, etc. that can be quite attractive to the entertainment production industry.

Explore the history of the Deering Estate and step into the past on a Ghost Tour. Guides will share stories of historic events, insights into previous inhabitants and the record of paranormal activity experienced by visitors and staff. Walk the same paths as Indigenous People, Miami’s early settlers, and even Charles Deering while you navigate the moments that linger on. Tour may contain mature subject matter. Recommended for ages 9 and up. Equipment used to detect paranormal activity – such as pendulums, dowsing rods, EMF meters and cameras are welcome. Cost: $40 per person. Space is very limited. Mark your calendar for the final MuSe event of the season at the Seminole Theatre, hosted by the Homestead Center For The Arts featuring Miami-based singer/songwriter/poet Alexa Lash, with a voice often referred to as soulful, unique and powerful. Fans of the legendary Main Street Café in Homestead will apreciate this new generation of gifted musical storytellers. Tickets are only $5 thanks to a grant from the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs. The live performance will be streamed in real time on HCA Facebook, among other viewing options. Tickets will be available online and at the door.

Hailed for their athletic physicality, personal theatricality and unpredictable sense of humor, Adele Myers and Dancers is a Miami-based nationally acclaimed female dance theater company-in-residence at the South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center. Known for their dynamic repertory and dancing, the Sarasota Contemporary Dance Company, directed by Miami native, Leymis Bolaños Wilmott, will present a newly commissioned work by Adele Myers as part of the mixed bill of entertaining and socially relevant dance theater never before presented in Miami.

Business - Find The Perfect Match

The City of Homestead Community Redevelopment Agency (HCRA) wants to help local businesses and entrepreneurs grow their dreams and find their perfect match at the Small Business Matchmaker at the Phichol Williams Community Center, 951 SW 4th Street in Homestead. Attendees will learn about grant opportunities, connect with experts in business planning and marketing, and meet with local lenders. During the ongoing Matchmaking Sessions from 10am until 5pm, guests will go on "speed dates" with CRA community partners to find the right resources to help their businesses succeed. Additional workshops throughout the day include an opening session at 10am focused on making it through business crises, a session at 11am on doing business with the City of Homestead, a session at 12pm on doing business with Miami-Dade County, and a session at 1pm regarding government contracting as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE).

Enjoy a fine rum tasting event as the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival returns to the Coral Gables Woman's Club at 1001 East Ponce, with a world of cane spirits to sample.
