Redland Historic Bike Tour

Saturday, May 22 at 9am
Redland Historic Bike Tour

Venture out on a bicycle with a naturalist guide and explore historic sites throughout the Redlands on this 12-mile tour. Stops include the Silver Palm Historic District, Hattie Bauer Preserve, as well as Fruit & Spice Park for a quick bite at the Mango Cafe. This tour meets at Castellow Hammock Park, departing at 9am. Homestead CRA Job Fair

The City of Homestead has partnered with local employers, educators, and agencies to host a Job Fair Saturday at the Phichol Williams Community Center. Attendees will have the chance to meet with local employers with current openings including the City of Homestead, Showbiz Cinemas, and Miami Job Corps. Miami Dade College and South Dade Technical College will also be present with information on continuing education and vocational training programs. South Florida Youth Symphony

South Florida Youth Symphony

Two unique concerts, including a world premiere, highlight the historic appearance by the Emmy and Gold Medal-winning South Florida Youth Symphony at the Seminole. SFYS will present two free-to-the-public concerts at 1 and 4pm in the organization’s first Homestead appearance. The 1pm Kids’ Concert is family-oriented and will feature show tunes, movie themes and an always-popular instrument demonstration. The 4pm Grand Season Finale performance is more classical in nature and will feature a world premiere piece 2021 by harpist Yuuri Harper-Rosenberg, as well as solo student performances by Heily Rivas (Double Bass) and Gianluca Nagaro (Violin). The Dropouts, Florida’s very own party band will be playing live at Miami Brewing Company on Saturday from 6 to 10pm in the Tap Room -- a fun pre-concert show before the main event of the night, the Bon Jovi Drive-In Experience. The band delivers a sing-out-loud brand of rock music covers of popular songs that will keep you partying throughout the night. The East Everglades Orchid Society will present their annual Orchid Auction at the R. F. Orchids Banyan Pavilion at 7pm, featuring a great variety of amazing specimens for collectors and orchid enthusiasts. This is the orchid society's largest fund raising event of the year. Visit Castellow Hammock Park on May 29 to enjoy a night of folk music in this beautiful natural setting. With vocals, guitar, banjo, and a wealth of traditional folk songs and historic images, musician and historian Matthew Sabatella weaves an engaging narrative that tells the story of how Americans pushed westward throughout the nineteenth century. The journey begins in Colonial America and follows the path of sailors, pioneers, immigrants, '49ers, farmers, soldiers, cowboys, homesteaders, and railroaders who moved the country across the continent and into the twentieth century. The Seminole Theatre is bringing back their annual summer camp – with a twist. For the second year in a row, they'll host a smaller more intimate cycle theatre style summer camp. Cycle plays have been around for hundreds of years, and involve performers keeping their distance in separate rooms to tell the same story together in sequences. This is the perfect opportunity to let your child's inner performer shine.
