Friday, April 29, the last Friday in April, is National Arbor Day, a time to recognize the importance of trees, with many environmental awareness groups scheduling special gathers to plant trees. Sunday, May 1 is Loyalty Day, first observed in 1921. It's a day when Americans celebrate their freedom while remembering their responsibilities to continue the legacy of liberty. On July 18, 1958, the Congress designated May 1 of each year as Loyalty Day to foster loyalty and love of the country. It's also the first day of Military Appreciation Month, as well as Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month and Jewish American Heritage Month. Tuesday, May 3 is National Teacher Appreciation Day, celebrated on the Tuesday of the first full week in May. It's a day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives. Do children still bring their teacher an apple? Consider asking a teacher if they need help with supplies. |
