Friday, August 28 is National Red Wine Day, celebrating the natural process of fermenting red grapes to make delicious wines across the globe, such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot noir, Malbec, Zinfandel, Grenache, Tempranillo, Port, Syrah and many more. Sunday, August 30 is National Grief Awareness Day, observed annually on this day, highlights the complex emotional impact of loss, encourages open conversations about bereavement, and reminds people to support those who are mourning. It was founded in 2014 by advocate Angie Cartwright to help break the social stigma around grief. Tuesday, September 1 is National Forgiveness Day, an annual reminder of the universal human need for healing and forgiveness, to let go of grudges and embrace a path of unity and understanding. National Burnt Ends Day on September 1 is your chance to celebrate one of the tastiest BBQ treats. Once consider a throw-away portion, burnt ends come from the point of a brisket. Friday, September 4 is Eat an Extra Dessert Day, a day of culinary decadence that encourages people to treat their sweet tooth with a second helping of dessert. This is appropriately followed by two days of fasting. LOL Friday, September 4 is National Macadamia Nut Day, a chance to appreciate these delectable exotic nuts with a creamy buttery taste, adding a subtle richness to everything they grace. Monday, September 7 -- the first Monday in September -- is Labor Day, a national holiday that celebrates the American worker, the American labor movement and the great strides of progress made in securing fair wages and decent working conditions. It's also been the traditional end of summertime and beginning of the school year, and an opportunity for family gatherings and last-minute vacation adventures during the three day weekend. Sunday, September 13, the first Sunday in September after Labor Day, is National Grandparents Day, an opportunity to honor all grandparents through a range of activities such as gift-giving, card-giving, and for children to invite their grandparents to school for a day where they participate in special lessons or special assembly programs. |
