Thursday, July 14 is Bastille Day, a traditional holiday in French territories marking the anniversary of the fall on July 14, 1789, of the Bastille, in Paris. The Third Sunday in July -- the 17th -- is National Ice Cream Day. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month. He also established National Ice Cream Day as the third Sunday in the month. Tuesday, July 19 is National Daiquiri Day, so set aside time to enjoy the original simple concoction of fresh lime juice with light dry rum and a touch of sugar, hand shaken to perfection and served neat in a cocktail glass. Sunday, July 24 is Parent's Day, on the fourth Sunday of July each year, a chance to recognize, uplift and support the role of parents in bringing up their children. |
