Bull Riding Is Always Popular at the Annual Homestead Rodeo (Photo by Hugh Hudson)
January is a busy month for events and that includes the annual, multi-day Homestead Rodeo brought by the Homestead Rodeo Association, an all volunteer organization founded in the late 1940s. This year’s rodeo marks the 68th year of excitement. Calf-roping, barrel racing, bucking broncos, and bulls itching to throw riders will challenge contestants. The Rodeo is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and brings talent from across the country – veterans as well as novices hoping to make a name for themselves. Homestead’s own Everglades Posse will entertain the crowd and there are plenty activities for the entire family to enjoy.
A series of pre-rodeo events kick off at Harris Field Wed, Jan 18, 2017 and the rodeo officially gets underway Friday night, January 20, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. and continues both Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The full schedule, history, and photo gallery can be seen at http://homesteadrodeo.com
Tickets are $20 per day $5 for children. (Credit cards accepted)
