Celebrate the start of the winter growing season in South Florida at Redland Grow Fest, Saturday and Sunday at the Fruit and Spice Park from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Buy veggie and herb seedlings, fruit trees, local food, artisanal products. Attend workshops, presentations, and demos to learn about growing, cooking and eating seasonally. Talk to experts. Listen to music, watch amateur cooks, students and influential local chefs square off in two Local Cookoff Competitions, creating awesome dishes with a mystery box of 100% locally grown produce.
This year the events features Ancient Plant Connections — plants used for food, shelter, medicine, and clothing — with spotlight on Hemp, its history and many uses, and current research happening in Redland.
