The Tropical Fruit & Vegetable Society of Redland meets at the Fruit & Spice Park on the last Wednesday of each month from 7:30 to 9:00pm to share information, tips and techniques for growing tropical produce in South Florida.
The featured speaker is Michael Heckart, with a program about Nightshades, from family of Solanaceae, with more than 3,000 plants worldwide. The most common we know are tomatoes, all peppers, potatoes, tomatillos and eggplants.
The Society originated in 1981 when a small group of enthusiasts began meeting regularly at the Fruit & Spice Park. The membership includes commercial growers, backyard gardeners and rare plant collectors.
An invitation for membership is extended to all persons interested in tropical fruit and vegetables that will help advance the goals of the Society.
